Our practice has served patients since 2016, but we have decades of experience in optometry that guides everything we do at Brookleigh. Our owner and lead provider, Dr. Doug Anania, has worked as an optometrist in the Atlanta area since 2007.

He works closely with our other optometrist in Brookhaven, Dr. Jessica Reynolds. She worked as a clinical director for a major refractive surgery company and brings this specialized expertise to our practice as well.

Many people tend to neglect their eyecare unless they’re experiencing a specific problem, but it’s important to visit us on a regular schedule so we can monitor how your eyes change over time. We’re also better able to detect any potential issues early before they grow into large problems.

That being said, the frequency with which you should visit our optometrist in Brookhaven depends on your age. Here’s what we recommend for each age group:

• Children typically have a basic eye screening at school and should have their vision checked every year if they are presenting with any issues or signs of vision impairment.
• Adults with no current history of eye disorders should have their vision checked once a year for a routine health evaluation as well as to update any needed prescriptions.
• If you or any close family members are diagnosed with an eye disorder, diabetes, or hypertension, we recommend visiting an optometrist every 6 months to 1 year for a full exam with a retinal evaluation.

Once you’ve found something you like, we will order your lenses and let you know once they are ready. Then you’ll just have to drop by to get your glasses fitted, and you’ll be good to go!

Next, we’ll perform some basic tests to check for common eye conditions, such as glaucoma. Then, your provider will start the vision test portion of your exam. We’ll examine your eyes while honing in on your eye prescription.
